#22 Face-to-Face Space: Social Networking Communities

The social networking communities have many interesting and useful concepts. I think that they can be helpful and good if used properly. What works best will vary from user to user as we are all different. Expectations and wants will be as varied as our personalities. Obviously these communities allow us to link up with and learn from other users that share common interests such as Books, Librarians, Libraries, Archives, Reference, Preservation, etc.... The accumulation and sharing of ideas and information is what a library is about.

#21 Podcasts, Shmodcasts

I looked at some of the podcast links. I found LibVibe to be an interesting podcast for Library News. You can subscribe to it and have it updated as new information is made available.

#20 You too can YouTube

You Tube. I think that we can visit other libraries and see what they have to offer and what services they provide. Without leaving our library. It is a great way to promote new ideas, services, concepts and personnel. We can show others what we are doing and see what they have thought of.

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools

I chose the visual arts for my area of interest. TheBroth.Com is an interesting visual concept. It is an interactive pallet. A canvas in the style of a Wiki. You can make art with others able to change, add to or take away from the work. It is an interesting concept that can be very frustrating if people do not play well with others.

#16 Wiki's

I enjoyed the book lovers Wiki.
I like getting feed back from others that have read books.
The page was easy to navigate and let me look at reviews by subject. I even picked some out to read myself. Take a look and see what interests you and what others have to say.
Though reviews are limited in number. This is a great tool for anyone wanting to look for an interesting book.
I do hope that the list of reviews continue to grow.

#12 Rollyo

I see many uses for a tool like this to do custom searches of specific sites. A basic web search may come back with hundreds or thousands of hits. Many of them worthless. With this tool you can limit your searches to worthwhile sites and save gads of time. This has some very good features and is easy to use.

The LibraryThing

LibraryThing is very easy to use with several options for looking up books. I have listed some of the books that I read this school year at the suggestion of one my student assistants. I think that I will continue adding books that I have read.It could be rather interesting to see how many there are.

Seven and one-half Habits

I believe that the easiest Habits for this project are using technology to your advantage and playing. I have read many blogs but never put one together before. The hardest will be viewing problems as challenges. Getting past the large speed bumps.

#5 Flicker

Using Flicker was simple. I took a few pictures of the Foo Dogs outside of the library annex and uploaded them to Flicker. Here is one that I linked to my blog.

Foo Dog

Foo Dog, originally uploaded by Calandilaithe.

The Annex has two Foo dogs guarding the building. They are starting to grow a green algae that reallycontrasts with their white stone.
